FAQ
Questions the desk already answers.
Metal, back orders, returns, care, and the minimums. The same answers as the catalog FAQ.
What is our metal?
All of our silver jewelry is solid sterling silver. The international hallmark for sterling silver is 925. You will find all of our jewelry stamped 925. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining 7.5% composed of copper, bronze, and zinc. This is a worldwide industry standard. In addition to the 925 stamp, we stamp our registered logo AGI. Stamping our name on each piece guarantees the purity of our silver.
Back orders
Our computerized backorder system gives priority to the customer waiting on a backordered item. Those orders are filled before the merchandise is released to any new order.
Choose whether or not you want backorders.
If you do not indicate a preference, we automatically backorder items when the total is at least $40. We can set a different minimum if you ask.
We extend any coupon or discount that came with the original order.
Backorders ship as soon as the items are received.
Prices on backorders follow the market at the time of shipping, not the original quote. That keeps it fair. If the market drops, we ship at the lower price, and the reverse is also true.
Shipping charges apply to backorders.
If a backorder will take longer than 30 days, we notify you and you can keep it or cancel it.
Returns and claims
Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We strive to provide the highest quality product and service available in the industry. See our guarantee.
If you are not satisfied, or the quantity received does not match, file a claim within 14 days of the invoice date.
Once approved, we must receive the return within 30 days of the date you filed the claim.
To start, call 303-980-1218. From a landline, call toll free 800-447-4583. Have the invoice number and the reason for the return. We will issue a Return Authorization Number (RAN).
On the shipping label, address the package attention Returns. Inside, include a note with your company name and address, every item being returned, the RAN, the original invoice numbers, and the reason. A copy of the original invoice is helpful.
Our guarantee
We guarantee our product to be free of manufacturing defects (a bad clasp, a bad soldering joint, a bad link, and the like). We will repair or exchange damaged items at our discretion. File a claim within 30 days of the invoice date. Refunds are subject to a 10% restocking fee. We cannot be held liable for oxidation or tarnish, or for customer neglect or mishandling. Returned oxidized items are valued at scrap silver.
Product care
Silver will eventually tarnish. These are the guidelines for a non-toxic cleaner. No over-the-counter solution fully restores a brand-new luster, but this method removes most of the oxidation.
Items needed
- Washing soda by Arm & Hammer
- Aluminum foil
- Distilled water
- One deep cooking pan or a similar container
- A blow dryer
- A cloth or paper towel
Cleaning
- Line the bottom of the pan with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
- Fill the pan with warm tap water, enough to cover the pieces.
- Dissolve 2 to 4 tablespoons of washing soda, depending on how many pieces you are cleaning.
- Set the pieces on the foil. Agitate the solution gently for about one minute.
- First rinse: rinse thoroughly in warm tap water.
- Second rinse, and do not skip it: use distilled water only. Swirl the pieces for two to three minutes. Do not reuse the water. Use only what you need.
- Dry immediately. Lay the pieces on a towel and blow-dry them close enough that the metal gets hot and the moisture evaporates.
The last two steps remove chlorine and the moisture left on the chain. Skip them and the merchandise oxidizes again very quickly.
Gold plated silver
Gold plating lays gold over sterling silver. Our gold-plated jewelry is electroplated with 22K gold over sterling silver (925). Plate is measured in mils or microns. Our gold plate is 20 mils. A small selection is in stock. Most of the line can be special ordered gold plated. See the minimum order for the quantity that special order requires.
Delivery time and lead time
We usually ship within 72 hours via UPS Ground, unless you specify otherwise.
During the holidays we may not guarantee a 72-hour turnaround, but the order goes out as soon as possible. Call 800-447-4583 for an estimate.
If you are in a rush, we will do our best. We keep one of the largest inventories in the industry and fulfill most orders to an average of 80% completion within 72 hours. What is not in stock may be backordered. See the back order policy.
When you can plan ahead, allow 4 to 5 weeks. That is the best way to receive everything in one shipment, on the date you need it.
What is the minimum order?
Domestic, by the piece: $60.
Domestic, by weight: between $75 and $1,000, depending on your estimated buying volume. That minimum is set when you register or when an Azur representative opens the account.
A first order on azur1.com is subject to a slightly higher minimum than the orders that follow. That first-time minimum is stated at registration.
Accounts buying on Azur’s credit line: $350.
International orders: $350. See how international orders are handled.
Azur reviews pricing and minimums from time to time and reserves the right to change minimum order amounts.
Anti-tarnish coating
The coating is non-toxic and hypoallergenic. It is a plating process that puts a barrier on the silver to extend shelf life. It is meant to help the merchant keep jewelry clean longer, not as a finish for the final customer. The coating can extend shelf life two to three times. It does not guarantee the silver will never tarnish.
Multi color jewelry
Multi color silver is sterling (.925) electroplated with different shades of gold. Those shades come from alloying gold with copper, bronze, and other metals.
Product origins
Azur imports directly from trusted sources built up over the last 20 years, so the sterling stays high quality and fairly priced.
Most chains come from Italy. In some cases we use manufacturers in India when the quality is comparable and the price is lower.
Natural stone pendants and diamond-cut charms are made in the United States.
The cubic zirconium pendant line is imported from China.
Suggested markup
In the jewelry trade, markup is often called keystone and keys. Keystone means a 100% markup. Keys means a markup above 100%. The retail price is yours to set. These are suggestions, based on industry averages. Retail prices are market driven, and we are not responsible for your results.
- Under $1.50 cost: 5 keys
- Under $10: 3.5 to 4 keys
- Under $25: 3 keys
- Under $50: 2.5 keys
- Above $50: 2 keys
Product display
The CD-200 is the counter display for chain. Buy $1,500 of product at wholesale, as a pre-pack or as your own selection, and the CD-200 is half price. It is regularly $490. The discount is on the display only, not the freight.
